(1) Log in as root.
(2) In a shell execute: rpm -i brukersuite-2019.1-0.i386.rpm
(3) In a shell execute: licensemanager (see License Manager User Guide [M88-E01099] for instructions)
(4) Edit /usr/local/lib/bn-config.py to set up the BIS host and the hardware profile.
(5) Grant database access to all operating system users that want to run
    brukersuite: bnrun groupdb <user>
    where <user> needs to be replaced with the name of the operating system
    user account

choose a the hardware profile which matches your instrument from /usr/local/cosmo/bin. Only specify the appropriate file. 
 
The computer should have a directory /smb/<hostname>/frames, which is writable by the users who want to run APEX3.  The computer must be running SAMBA if data collection with BIS is needed.  SAMBA must be configured not to ask for a password when BIS writes images.
